MSN

MSN Search was a search engine by Microsoft that comprised a search engine, index, and web crawler. As of September 12, 2006, MSN Search is now Windows Live Search.

1998 launched - Search results from Inktomi

1999 early - Displayed listings from Looksmart, blended results from Inktomi, as well as Altavista .

2004 (November) - Microsoft upgraded MSN Search to provide its own Microsoft-built search engine results (list of web addresses with samples of content that meet a user's query), the index of which is updated weekly or even daily. After several years of research, came out Beta version in February,2005. Image search powered by Picsearch.

2006 - Borned of Windows Live Search

Microsoft had revenues of over US $32 billion for the fiscal year ending June 2002, and employs more than 50,000 people in 72 countries and regions. Microsoft's mission is to advance and improve software technology while making it easier and more cost-effective for people to use computers. Microsoft has made its reputation on constantly reworking its software products until they resemble perfection in the eyes of their users. The company employs its own team of editors that monitors the most popular searches being performed and they hand-pick sites that are most relevant.
